I had a message posted on my other blog (political) the other day by a person who was comparing two different candidates & why you should vote for ______ instead of ________.
The one that he thought you shouldn't vote for "bought into" the government conspiracy thought which would lead you to believe we were attacked by our own government on 911. The other (obviously) did not, or so he implied.
My theory is this:
When a monumental and catastrophic event in our history occurs, it is likely that there will always be groups of people who will promote a line of thinking to further their own agenda's and that there will always be further groups of people to believe in it. Always.
He thinks the gvt. planned and initiated the plot then carried it out so that "certain entities" could have a clear cut initiative and plausible reason to start an all-out war. This would help further line the already bulging pockets of the mega wealthy oil corporations with which their main interests lie and ensure further control of mid-east oil for years to come.
Some people believe this.
My thought is that just perhaps let's say, Al Quaeda operatives did what we were told that they did...plot out and orchestrate the events of 911 and thus began the "official first act of war against us" by cells of madmen who hate us and nothing more. Perhaps those same ones making such outrageous claims against our own government are using this catastrophic event in their favor to further THEIR agenda's and gain popularity and... of course, gathering groups of people together to believe them?
I see any monumental event as opportunity for any person/group to build their foundation upon at any time. One is just as opportunistic and exploitive as the next.
I don't claim to know anything. I have a healthy suspicion of any group, be it private, or otherwise. And this is the only government that we have, so my role in it is to try to speak my mind and use my right to vote to change it when deemed necessary.
I have a distrust of people in general and that sort of flows over into the public realms of politics and leadership in general. But we don't do any favors to the rest of the nation by promoting theories that are unproven or buying into their hysteria. And we especially do no one favors by publishing our private rants aimed at people who are running for the highest office of the land in what may well be one of the most important elections that we've had in a long time.
A lot hangs in the balance and we need to focus on real issues not fairy tale pathways that lead us away from the important.
Just mho for the day.
