Straw Poll

Today I listened to the callers after the Iowa Straw Poll.
Sometimes I don't think people listen to anything. And furthermore, I don't think that the majority of people are truly "in tune" with what's going on around them.
Two callers, one from Manhattan, KS and the other stating he was a "Catholic" voter (although I don't quite know why he felt there was a need to state his religious persuasion)... both saying they were tired of the blatant "hatred" directed toward illegal aliens, perpetuated by the "Republicans" and generally people at large. One went on to spew the same rhetoric that we hear over and over and over ad nauseum... "our country was founded by aliens who migrated here from other places" and yada yada. "

The KEY to our ancestors success in this country was due primarily to the fact that they wanted to make this country THEIRS by doing every LEGALLY necessary thing to become a good citizen here. Legal...legal...legal... can't be said enough!
Republicans do NOT hate illegals. They want to see them follow the paths of our ancestors who prospered here by effectively assimilating into our already established culture. Who add to and do not subtract from it - by the use of illegal measures. To begin a life of any kind here by breaking our immigration laws from the "get-go" does not make the statement that they want to contribute to our society in any real and meaningful way. Nor does marching in the streets carrying Mexican flags and making demands upon a government that is not rightfully theirs.

Our ancestors EARNED the right to citizenship not by marching, making demands or any other such thing. They worked hard, learned this nations ways and languge, taught themselves to blend not rebel. They wanted to be here and be part of this country in every honest and tangible way. Obeying the laws of the land was for them (and should still be today), at the top of the list.

If you have to break our law to be here, then you should probably reconsider coming in the first place. Not to mention risking your very life & limb to do so.

Well, although there is quite a great deal of "hype" put out there, there is also a good deal of truth to be heard amongst the jabs and arrows and inuendos being tossed about.

Economically, we are NOT doing well at all.
There have been years upon years of mis-management and outright corruption from both sides to the point that people would absolutely just "flip out" if the full truth were known.

New Orleans hasn't been rebuilt...or, the people even helped. Why not?
The failed levee's have not been replaced with bigger and better - nor have any assurances for better, more secure surroundings. Healing is far from reality in Louisianna.
Bridges are allowed to be structurally unsafe to the point of collapse across this nation, and roadways a continuing peril to the public who travel them, even though there have been very specific funds and taxes enough supposedly developed, and set aside to FIX them... and Why? Just where does that money go instead?
Health Care is a joke for everyone! And yet, our congressmen and leaders, athletes and "so-called" movie stars and celebrities have the best care possible. While corrupt greedy insurance companies can pluck some unqualified dote off the street to plop behind a desk and stamp either approved or denied on life-altering medical treatments for "the little people" who have been honest and above board and paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for YEARS to these crooks, just so they can be left to die "if necessary" so that they don't have to pay any of it back.

Just last week here, a lady we know lost her FIFTEEN YEAR OLD GRAND DAUGHTER who was booted out of the hospital on a Monday after having her diseased tonsils taken out (can't keep anyone overnight in the hospital, after all...just to make sure everything goes ok before turning people loose)... she was dead that Wednesday morning. She was just another statistic to her parents insurance company. I'm sure they gave no thought to the promising life yet to be lived by this young vibrant teenager.

The likes of people such as Brittaney whats-her face and Lindsey and Paris and Niki ... can act like complete idiots and criminals while the various peon's of the nation who pull such antics are tossed behind bars and the keys thrown away. The world looks on w/out so much as a hint of disgust toward such uncalled for behavior in these young people.

There is such inequity in the land, and to me, it seems the entire world has lost it's collective mind. People are just NUTS!! And yet, the bulk of society just rolls along as always, oblivious to the sad state we presently find ourselves in. We seem to be financially, morally, and spiritually bankrupt from one far corner of the nation to another, and heading toward ruin on all fronts. And just who cares? REALLY?

I dunno...is it just ME?
I personally don't think "better" politics is where we'll find answers. It is a far deeper problem than man alone can take on. But what do I know?

I do know one thing. I'm not looking to mankind for the answers to what ails us. I will vote for the one that makes most sense out of the mess, if that's even possible. And pray that they aren't like every other one that has ever risen to the greatest power position available in this country having their own agenda w/out regard to "the little people" who make this place tick. They (the little peons) are the true movers & shakers...they are those who work hard, obey the laws, pay taxes, buy insurance, do all things right so that the rest of the immediate world around them can benefit by their efforts. And yet they are the ones hurting the most.

I think it would do us well to consider placing someone bigger than us in charge, FOR ONCE, and mean it. Why bother with "In God We Trust" when we really don't? When it's virtually a sin to even utter God's name under our breaths, lest some poor schook be offended beyond repair?

I need this rant because it waxes very political in the air that we breathe at the moment, and no one seems to really be forthcoming with solid help for the stuff that's making our nation sick to the core. Where did our rights go? Where did our country go?" And just where did our sanity go over the last couple decades or so?


I am reminded of this: "If my people, who are called by my name...will humble themselves and pray ( and turn from their wicked ways), then will I hear, and then I will answer them"... God

Sorry for the rambling. I probably am making no sense, but I know what I'm trying to say here, and I hope you can make something of it as well.
